About us
The property sits on the western bank of the Murrumbidgee River just 6km from the history rich town of Gundagai.
Our vineyard was established in 1993 - the first commercial vineyard in the Gundagai area. The first wine under our Track Winding Back label, was the '03 Chardonnay, which has now been joined by another white and two red varieties.
Cellar Door
Gundagai Wines Cellar Door is housed in the old Nargoon woolshed, originally built in 1941, which has been imaginatively converted for its role in showcasing the wines of the region. Great care has been taken to preserve the shed's heritage, resulting in a uniquely attractive venue for light meals or larger functions.
Functions and events
The converted woolshed provides a unique option for those searching for a special venue for weddings, parties or anything. It has been host to numerous day and evening weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. It is also a popular venue for groups to celebrate their annual Christmas party. Contact us for further information or to check availability.
History
Gundagai Wines is a partnership of three members of the Robertson family, whose grandfather J.O Robertson came up from Victoria in 1911 as a young married man. He purchased part of historic "Kimo" and named it "Nargoon". The young couple settled in a small cottage whist the pise homestead was being constructed from soil from the property. Family stories have it that the dining room was a canvas marquee off one end of the cottage, and that grandmother brought her French maid from Melbourne with her (to help maintain the standards, no doubt!).
Track Winding Back wines
The label design represents the line of hills down the valley, the track and the Murrumbidgee River winding around to our cellar door, and the golden soils of this area which are producing such fine wines.
We offer free wine tastings in our spacious surroundings.
