Our wines
Gundagai Wines produces the Track Winding Back range of wines which continues to develop and is one of the emerging success stories in the local wine industry around Gundagai. We are pleased to offer you Telephone or Fax Orders.
The Track Winding Back range includes:
Our winemaker is Andrew McEwin of Kyeema Wines, Murrumbateman who is a well known wine judge and co-editor of Winewise Magazine. His own wines, and those of others, are continuing to be successful at wine shows.
Climate
More moderate than the cool climates and more temperate than the warm, means that the fruit ripens in near ideal conditions, with a longer ripening period than the warm climates which leads to maximization of flavour length and depth. Being warmer than cool climates means the flavours are in the richer spectrum and avoids the edge of green which can occur in cool climate wines.
Viticulture
Good wines are premade in the vineyard. Our vines are managed to balance the fruit load and vine capacity in consideration of water availability, to ensure the fruit can ripen with no water stress.
Winemaking
Our white wines are gently whole bunched pressed to prevent stalks and seeds being crushed, causing astringency and strong tannins. We seek fresh, crisp whites to cellar for 2 to 3 years.
The reds are crushed into open fermenters and gently plunged to ensure maximum contact of skin and juice. French oak aging is carefully monitored. Our reds will cellar for up to ten years.
We make our wines to concentrate the varietal fruit flavours, while maintaining balance.
